Top Tip #7 – Lock unwanted guests out of your Zoom meeting

Do you want to hold your first board meeting on Zoom? Having reservations about the security of virtual meetings using collaboration platforms like Zoom? Well, you needn’t worry. With Zooms increasing popularity across the globe they have various mechanisms in place to securely host your online events.

As the ‘Zoom Boom’ increases and more people use its platform to host their virtual meetings or events, the ability to manage your meeting becomes increasingly important. Just like you would never leave your meeting door open so people could just walk into your office meeting late. The last thing you want are people joining your virtual meeting after its started. This would be disruptive. For this reason, it’s always smart to lock the door of your Zoom meeting. When you lock a Zoom Meeting that’s already started, no new participants can join, even if they have the meeting ID and password.

Locking your live Zoom Meeting…

Here’s how to lock out unwanted guests:

Once you are in your live Zoom Meeting and all your participants have joined, click ‘Security’ at the bottom of your Zoom window.

In the pop up box you will see a button that says ‘Lock Meeting’. Click this button.

Or you can also do this by clicking on ‘Participants’ at the button of your Zoom window. Then click the three dots in the bottom right hand corner.

In the pop up box you will see a button that says ‘Lock Meeting’. Click this button.

This will mean that your meeting is now locked and no new participants can join.

This top tip really does give you the ‘key’ to keep wanted guests in and unwanted guests out. Why not get zooming today and give it a try!
